Yellow Fever Vaccination

Administration:
Live virus for subcutaneous administration
May be administered with other travel related vaccinations. Should be given at different sites. 4 week interval for subsequent sequential vaccinations, if administered with Yellow Fever

Re-vaccination in 10 years.

Indications:
 Recommended for travel to endemic areas.  Also may required by some countries. 

Patients need to understand risks including
Yellow Fever Vaccine-Associated Neurological Disease
Yellow Fever Vaccine-Associated Viscerotropic Disease

versus benefits of immunity when traveling in endemic area

Contraindications

Not to be given to infants less than  9 months of age due to risk of encephalitis

Extreme caution should be taken if patient is older than 60 years of age.

Immunosuppressed patients should not be vaccinated

Should not be given to pregnant women unless absolutely required by destination country. 

Patients with Thymus disorders should not be vaccinated
