MMR Vaccine

Indications:
For those not vaccinated or for those with incomplete series.  Not to be given in pregnancy or immunocompromised patients

 

When to give:

Dose #1-Age 12 month

Dose #2 Age 4-6 years of age

If necessary, an infant travel to areas of risk may receive a MMR vaccine prior to 12 months of age. If this happens, then the child should still receive the two dose series, and the accelerated dose should not count as part of an adequate series. 

Patients should not receive the MMR vaccine Within 14 days prior to immunoglobulin (IG) administration. If patient is to reveive IG before MMR, then MMR sould be delayed for 3-11 months. 

Contraindications:

Pregnant women should not receive MMR vaccine. The  should also avoid becoming pregnant  for 1 month after receipt of measles vaccine, MMR or other rubella-containing vaccines.  Breastfeeding is not a contraindication to MMR vaccination of either a woman or an infant. People in close contact with pregnant women may receive the MMR vaccine

Not to be given to severely  immunocompromised patients
