Influenza Vaccine 
Vaccine Information Sheets
Trivalent inactivated, administered IM

Indications:

  • Age 50yrs and older.

  • History of medical problems (i.e., heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, renal disease, hemoglobinopathy, immunosuppression) 

  • people living in chronic-care facilities.

  • Persons with any condition that can effect respiratory function (i.e. cognitive dysfunction, spinal cord injury, seizure disorder,  neuromuscular disorders)

  • Persons working or living with at-risk people.

  • Women who will be pregnant during the influenza season.

  • Healthcare workers and other persons who provide direct care to at-risk people.

  • Day Care workers working with children ages 0–23m.

  • Travelers that have risk factors and may be traveling to area where outbreaks are occurring. 

  • EMS, Paramedics, Social Workers

  • Students or other persons in institutional settings (i.e.., dormitory residents).

  • Anyone wishing to decrease the risk of contracting influenza

When to give:

  • Annually

  • Optimally given Oct-Nov, but may be administered anytime, especially flu season that runs Dec-Mar. 

Vaccine Contraindications:


Previous anaphylactic reaction to this vaccine or to any of its components, or to eggs.
Precaution
Moderate or severe acute illness.
